2013 Rochester Go Red Luncheon Wednesday, October 30, 2013 11:30am - 1:30pm
Rochester Riverside Convention Center 125 East Main Street Rochester, New York 14604
Our Survivor:
It was at my physical before 7th grade when my pediatrician noticed a heart murmur. Turns out, I was one of the 32,000 children born with a congenital heart defect each year. Mine had just gone unnoticed, but I had Coarctation of the Aorta.
Once diagnosed, surgery quickly followed. My open chest surgery was performed by accessing the heart from under my left arm and the ribcage is separated instead of the more invasive opening of the thoracic cavity.
After my recovery, I lived a life without limits. Today, I am a wife, a mother of three beautiful kids, a marathoner and a triathlete. In 2010, I completed the Lake Placid Ironman Triathlon. Hearing “Jeanne Mogauro, you are an Ironman!” was a dream come true.
I will be forever grateful to the American Heart Association and the doctors who repaired my heart. I want to keep my heart in the best shape I can. I owe that to myself, to my family, and to the team of physicians who made it possible.
Luncheon Menu:
Mixed green salad with balsamic vinaigrette or peppercorn parmesan dressing
Chicken Tuscany – Grilled chicken breast with marsala wine sauce topped with sundried tomatoes, crispy prosciutto and scallions
Individual Apple Crisp Pie
Coffee & Tea
